Critical knowledge retention made visible

After simmering a chicken carcass and some veg for chicken soup, I grabbed a colander and drained all the liquid. Then stood there staring at the bones thinking about the next step. Then I realised it involved the stock I’d just drained down the sink.

We all forget stuff. But for businesses, critical knowledge retention is no joke.

Think about your annual training budget.
About 70% of that number is probably wasted.

Overcoming the forgetting curve

Developed by Hermann Ebbinghaus in 1885 the forgetting curve shows that within one hour of learning, people have forgotten about 50%. Within a day it’s 70%. This is solid science, with Ebbinghaus’s experiment having been replicated many times.

While the exact shape of the curve is disputed, the fact that we forget nearly everything we learn and forget it very quickly is not debated. So what can we do about it? Luckily there’s a solution called spaced retrieval, which means getting learners to recall what they’ve learned a few times in the days and weeks after learning.

This approach stabilises retention at about 80% and once again is backed by strong, replicated science.

Of course, this is not new. Remember drilling and flashcards? That’s spaced retrieval. But can you really see employees doing this for the two weeks following training? Neither can I.

Expertise drives the solution

We’re passionate about learning techniques that actually work and we know it's not important where (or when) they come from, as long as the evidence stacks up.

There’s nothing we love more than reimaging old but effective techniques for the modern learner.

That’s where Forget Me Not (FMN) comes in. FMN is a low-cost spaced recall app for business. It adapts to each learner’s rate of forgetting, surfacing and closing retention gaps over a 6, 8 or 12 week period, depending on your needs. It also tells you what individuals and groups of learners are remembering or struggling with.

Innovation brings the cool

What’s cool is that the questions, answers and feedback are delivered to your mobile using a chat bot, along with progress indicators plus little nudges to keep learners on track. This is not a quizzing tool, it’s a memory buddy that optimises your retention and delivers rich media content to close recall gaps.

But best of all it’s cloud based, data driven, uber secure and scales up or down as you need it, without annual subscription fees. At this point I need to drop some supercool words: Algorithmic, data visualisations, nudge theory and mobile first. Thanks for that. Gotta keep our boffins happy!

You see the possibilities, now just imagine...

Point Angle
  • Compliance knowledge that sticks, seamlessly scaling up or down to meet the needs of each learner...

instead of a one size fits all annual refresher with hours of clicking next and pretending to care.

  • If you have employees that must know certain things to get the job done, then you finally have a way to make sure they do.

  • Sales and customer service staff with great product knowledge, gained quickly and in line with launch windows.

What about critical knowledge retention impacting costs, profitability or risk?

  • It’s one app, but with many applications!

We know this works but see for yourself...

We’ll give you access to the platform and we’ll write an 8-question set using your material. You can trial it with up to 50 users for two months. No strings attached. No special setup. Completely free.  We know that once you see the results, you’ll want more.

Pop your name, email and mobile number in the fields below and James will give you a call. You WON’T be put on any email marketing list. That’s not how we roll.
